Job Title: Senior Software Engineer
Department & Team: Digital/AI
The Opportunity:
The Genesys Digital/AI group plays a pivotal role in providing the innovations that enable global brands (over 7,500 organizations in 100+ countries) to orchestrate customer experiences across all communication and engagement channels. As an engineer in our customer-oriented group, you will design and build products that utilise machine learning and data analytics to solve real-world problems for our customers, working alongside accomplished engineers and researchers who will help take your impact to the next level. We are a highly-collaborative group who take great pride in our work and in learning from each other, but who don’t take themselves too seriously.

What You Will Do:

• Develop robust backend systems using Python and / or Java, integrating cutting-edge analytics and data science technologies.
• Engage in all phases of agile software delivery, including conceptualization, research, proof of concept, product chartering, rapid iterative development, production hardening, and on-call maintenance. Anything you do not know, you will learn from the team!
• Apply a testing-first mindset to ensure reliability and scalability of our services.
• Design APIs that support the needs of Genesys Cloud users and our platform integrators.
• Collaborate closely with team members across roles to share knowledge, solve complex challenges, and innovate continuously.
• Learn about and implement emerging technologies.

What We’re Looking For:

• Someone who is naturally curious.
• Effective, empathetic communicator, capable of articulating complex ideas with clarity and actively listening to understand others.
• Solid experience with Python and / or Java.
• Interest in learning about, or existing experience with:
• Analytics and data science frameworks/technologies.
• Machine learning concepts.
• Algorithms and data structures.
• RESTful API design.
• Event-driven architecture.
• Continuous Integration/Delivery practices.
• AWS (or similar) cloud technologies.
• DevOps and SRE principles, operating software systems efficiently at large scale.
• Infrastructure as code, e.g. Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Ideally, a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Maths, Physics, or related disciplines. However, this is not a requirement as we recognise there are many diverse paths into software careers.
• Ideally 4+ years experience in a software development environment.
