Description:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree in Economics, Political Science, Law from internationally recognized institutions. Post Graduate qualification is a plus
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in government, political & economic consultancy and industry association
  • Good knowledge of regional politics, economics and trade issues
  • Independent and proactive in operating in the region
  • Able to shape and influence SABIC’s holistic regional strategy
  • Able to adapt to changes in the region and advise stakeholders on impact and required actions

Key accountabilities includes

  • Maintain and expand relationships with key government agencies and external stakeholders in key markets in SEA and ANZ essential to SABIC’s business interests. Leverage on external networks and relationship capital to support SABIC’s market development,investment facilitation and technological collaboration aligned to our regional business strategy for SEA/ANZ region and assist to develop and expand emerging markets of Myanmar and Cambodia etc.
  • Strategize and influence our advocacy on policy issues and impediments to SABIC’s regional business strategy. Utilize industry associations, government platforms and initiatives to profile SABIC in the public affairs domain (eg Singapore Customs STP, Singapore Chemical Industry Council (SCIC), APHINDO Indonesia, Vietnam MPI, BKPM Indonesia etc)
  • Monitor regulatory changes impacting SABIC business in areas of Tariffs,Trade policies, Single Use plastics, Chemicals standards, ASEAN FTA with other countries/RCEP,Safegaurd/ADD etc and develop approapriate actions in colloboration with internal stakeholders for ASEAN & ANZ
  • Strengthen our regional external intelligence to facilitate the flow of key information on politcial & economical developments among SABIC internal stakeholders and HQ. Present and analyse to SABIC regional and senior leadership on key regional developments and its impact on SABIC’s regional business strategy.
  • Lead the coordination with the Country Managers (ASEAN & ANZ) to implement country specific Govt relations, business enabler actions and in alignment with SABIC’s regional strategy and priorities
  • As member of Crisis Management team, during emergencies and crisis, provide support to CMT-R/L by interacting as focal point to Govt agencies

Responsibilities:

The role of Government Relations is to plan and implement interaction and engagement strategies with government & external stakeholders in support of facilitating SABIC growth as well as defending our commercial interests in the SEA and ANZ region. As part of his/her duties, he/she is required to work with the Regional Head in management and coordination with internal stakeholders i.e. BUs, Functions as well as Country Managers in the planning, development and implementation of initiatives and action plans to improve the region’s transformation agenda and faciliate SABIC’s regional growth plan.
