Description:

As our Senior Technical Quality Manager you will be responsible for providing quality assurance leadership and technical direction with a focus on food safety, regulatory compliance, specification conformance, new product/process commercialization, and proactive product quality and cost improvement. The Senior Technical Quality Manager must model Lundberg Family Farms’ values and builds a culture consistent with the company values.

Responsibilities:

  • Food Safety and Regulatory Compliance
  • Oversee the development, implementation, review, and maintenance of the Safe Quality Foods (SQF) System, including food safety fundamentals and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) plans and prerequisite programs.
  • Responsible for ensuring effective Trace/Recall system and protocol.
  • Ensure food security programs are implemented and effective.
  • Manage issues with non-conforming product to ensure proper control, minimize losses, and provide analysis to eliminate future occurrences.
  • Ensure timely review and approval of quality critical documentation, including batch records, amendments, experimental summaries, and qualification/validation reports.
  • Support Department Managers in food safety related root cause/corrective action activity.
  • Product Quality and Cost Improvement
  • Establish proactive product quality improvement programs and maintain key product requirements including analytical and sensory..
  • Establish and maintain ingredient and packaging quality management programs.
  • Continually seek and implement cost savings and productivity improvement projects.
  • Collaborate with R&D/Innovation to develop, optimize, and scale the production process from the benchtop concepts into commercial facilities.
  • Research material functionality and recommend use to affect formulas to achieve desired attributes.
  • Perform formula assessments to identify ingredient, procedure, and process enhancements for the continuous improvement of products and regulatory requirements.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering, Food Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 10 years relevant hands-on work experience in food product design, formulation, ingredient functionality and interaction, process design, product scale-up, plant testing, and commercialization.
  • 5 years project and department management experience in Research & Development (R&D), Quality Assurance, or Quality Control.
  • Strong experience with Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), implementing and maintaining the program (SQF/BRC or equivalent).
  • Experience with process technology documentation including; Process Flow Sheets, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, Mass and Energy Balances, and Process Control Strategies.
  • HACCP certified with experience in implementation of the program.
  • Extensive knowledge of comprehensive food quality/food safety standards.
  • Well versed in GMP, personal safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to translate business needs into strategies and viable action plans.
  • Ability to create and manage annual budget.
  • Proficient in food and/or cereal chemistry and food manufacturing equipment/process engineering.
  • Must maintain a valid CA driver’s license or in the state of residence and meet insurability standards of our auto insurance carrier.
