Description:
On behalf of our client, a global integrated energy company, we are seeking for a Sr Wellsite Geologist. This role is responsible for overseeing all geological activities at the wellsite under the guidance of the Senior Operations Geologist – Well Planning. The successful candidate will ensure the implementation of best-practice target evaluation, manage geological data collection on the rig site, and consistently communicate drilling progress. Additionally, they will provide expert geological interpretations of wellsite activities to the Senior Operations Geologist – Well Planning & Operations.
About this role
Wellsite Geology Operations:
- Instruct and supervise all geological operations at wellsite, including mudlogging, DD/LWD/MWD, Electric Wireline Logging, BH Fluid sampling, and coring operations.
- Examine and describe cuttings while drilling on the provided format and report as required.
- Monitor and provide quality assurance and quality control of all third-party contractors related to wireline, DD/LWD/MWD, and Surface Data Logging activities.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Correlate geological data with offset wells, identifying target formations, horizons, and total depths using a combination of drill cuttings, LWD petrophysical logs, and mudlogging data.
- Daily completion and correspondence of geological reporting and operations reports summarizing last 24 hr drilling activities, cutting descriptions, gas or oil shows, mud data, and provisional formation tops with comparison of prognosed to actual depths.
Teamwork and Collaboration:
- Assist in mentoring graduate and company trainee wellsite geologists.
- Contribution to lessons learned, continual improvement of third-party services quality plans, and KPIs.
- Contribute to the ongoing refinement of all formation evaluation/geological operations standard operating procedures.
Occupational Health and Safety:
- Conduct all activities in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with INPEX’s policies and standard operating procedures, ensuring the welfare of personnel and the protection of INPEX’s assets and the environment.
- Participate in the Client/Company safety performance program.
- Contribute and input relevant geological data and lessons learned into RWeb, INPEX Wellsite Geology Manual, and associated Standard Operating Procedures.
