Description:
Under supervision in the Department of Surgical & Radiological Sciences, UC Davis. Carry out experiments on translational cancer research with special interest in p53 tumor suppressor using human cell lines and mouse model. Summarize and disseminates data in the form of presentations or manuscripts. Coordinate daily lab activities across lab team members and manage laboratory safety and supply ordering.
MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in routine laboratory techniques including: (1) tissue sectioning and immunohistochemistry; (2) RT-PCR/Western Blots/ELISAs;(3) basic microscopy or confocal imaging; (4) cell culture and animal handling; (5) mouse colony management; (6) xenograft studies.
- Experience with computer applications for transcribing raw data and results including software such as excel, word, statistical analyses and other related applications.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA):
- Communication and interpersonal skills to confer and relate professionally with other laboratory personnel.
- Organizational skills to coordinate and review study-related activities, maintain purchasing records, chemical and drug inventories, and preparation of media and solutions.
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in maintaining laboratory equipment.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA):
- Knowledge of IACUC procedures and applications.
- Knowledge of safety regulations, reporting requirements, record keeping, and disposal of chemicals.
- Knowledge of campus purchasing policies and procedures.
