Your role & work environment
We are looking for a Site Reliability Engineer and/or experienced DevOps Engineer with experience in rolling out SRE best practices across multiple squads. S/he will be an active part in building and leading the SRE Team within the CIO Office. As a SRE Lead, you will be in constant exchange with other Tribe Leadership Team and the CIO Management Team.
Experience in having implemented high-available services is key for the position.
The focus of your SRE activities will be to facilitate the adoption of SRE principles within the LU DevOps squads by acting as an enabler and being a contact point between all parties required for reliability improvements.
As SRE Lead you will be responsible for the reliability of ING’s IT services, which we do through a combination of software & systems engineering as well as enforcing best practices (Resilience patterns, Monitoring, Postmortems, etc.). We do this in a complex IT landscape with many interconnected applications. We use our influence to improve engineering, process and patterns for every service / component that is part of the application chains serving our customer journeys.
Your key experiences and skills

[Reliability Engineering]

  • Experience in application / synthetic monitoring solutions (Zabbix, IAT, ELK, etc.)
  • Experience with Resilience patterns (backpressure, Circuit Breaker, deadlines, …)
  • Experience & Ambition in Site Reliability Engineering and advocating SRE among peers
  • Experience in consistent disaster recovery approach.
  • IT Infrastructure generalist in Operating Systems, Network, DB, Middleware & Storage
  • Knowledge on Azure Resilience Pattern (or Any Cloud) and Standard Blueprint.

[Architecture and drive]

  • Experience in complex application landscapes where you were a part of multiple application chains
  • Experience & Ambition with developing high available microservices (uptime 24*7, 99.88%)

[Nice to have]

  • 5-10+ years in software engineering / IT operations / software architect roles.
  • Experienced in Agile / Scrum / DevOps projects
  • Experience and thorough understanding of continuous delivery, deployment tools and pipelines
  • Experience with VM-based as well as container-based infrastructure
  • Experience as a team manager is a plus
  • Experience/knowledge with multiple testing techniques, especially in the fields of performance and resilience
  • Knowledge on Resilience Testing Strategy with Capacity impact Analysis

  • Solid grasp of one or more programming language, Linux, and scripting techniques
