Sponsored Research Services (SRS) is a consortium of research administrators supporting Texas A&M University System members. We provide efficient and superior research administration services to members of The Texas A&M University System in Brazos County, Galveston and Qatar. SRS teams work with stakeholders to provide expertise and assistance with proposal submissions, in negotiation of external contracts, and in project administration throughout the life of the award. SRS is seeking an Research Administrator III who is responsible for research proposal preparation and submission . We seek to hire a candidate who will support our commitment to enriching the learning and working environment by promoting a culture that respects all perspectives, talents & identities per our Core Values. The preferred candidate will have previous experience within the Texas A&M University System, f our years’ experience in pre‐award sponsored research administration including k nowledge of Federal grant and contract regulations and practical application of current research administration issues. Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Four years of related experience in a university or business environment developing budgets, and/or project management, and/or proposal administration including proposal preparation and/or identifying potential sponsor/funding opportunities.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Strong verbal and written communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database software.
- Attention to detail skills and ability to work productively as part of a team.
- Ability to multi‐task and work cooperatively with others.
- Ability to work independently.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field.
- Four years’ experience in pre‐award sponsored research administration.
- Research administration experience within the A&M System or other university setting.
- Knowledge of Federal grant and contract regulations and practical application of current research administration issues.
- Knowledge of Word and Excel.
Responsibilities:
- Proposal Preparation and Coordination - Independently provides support to researchers in the preparation of complex, singular or multi‐institutional proposals which includes determining the sponsor’s requirements and preparation of multifaceted budgets and forms according to the guidelines established by Texas A&M University, Office of Management and Budget Circulars, Federal Cost Accounting Standard, and sponsor guidelines. Prepares supplementary proposal documents to potentially include national and/or international components with minimal supervision and ensures proposals and complex supporting documentation are complete before being forwarded to the sponsor. Prepares proposal revisions and responds to requests related to proposal submissions. Coordinates with researchers, department/unit heads, deans, directors and staff to resolve proposal issues and provides information as requested. Acquires knowledge on relevant matters regarding proposal preparation and review.
- Proposal Review and Compliance - Reviews proposals for compliance issues. Reviews program announcements and, with minimal direction, determines pertinent proposal requirements. Communicates guidelines and proposal requirements to Principal Investigators. Acquires basic knowledge of human subjects, animal subjects, Recombinant DNA, Export Controls, etc.
- Proposal Submission - Provides support to researchers in the submission of complex proposals. Enters proposal information into required submission systems (i.e., Grants.gov, etc.) and financial systems.
- Training and Mentoring - Assists the director and assistant directors in training and mentoring SRS Research Administrator I and II staff. Assists less experienced staff in making recommendations to directors and assistant directors regarding complex and non‐standard proposal issues. Develops and presents recommendations to director and assistant directors on policy and procedure development.
