As MaKami College continues to grow we have an exciting opportunity for an Administrative Assistant to join our Strategic Academic Learning Team (SALT). The SALT works closely with our students, to support them throughout their time with MaKami College. Major Accountabilities/Responsibilities (Including but not limited to the following):

  • Reviewing student requests, carefully assess student inquiries and requests, provide timely and accurate responses.
  • Handle administrative tasks such as filing, typing, copying, faxing, and scanning documents.
  • Maintain confidentiality while managing sensitive information for colleagues and students.
  • Coordinate student appointments for the Student Succes Centre (SSC) Supervisor and other team members.
  • Book appointments for Wellness, Disability funding, Learning Support, and Attendance sessions.
  • Collaborate with the Learning Assistant Supervisor to manage schedules efficiently.
  • Support Strategic Academic Learning Team (SALT) supervisor and manager with administrative tasks as needed.
  • Identify academically struggling students and connect them with potential SSC services.
  • Create workshops based on suggestions from various faculties.
  • Assist students with disability-related applications.
  • Track tutoring sessions and determine required services.
  • Communicate with Alberta student loans regarding Disability funding requirements.
  • Keep Learning Assistants informed of curriculum updates and manage their training effectively.
  • Send emails to students who are not attending classes.
  • Work closely with the Student Advisory Services (SAS) team and faculty and ensure students receive the best possible service.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Hold a Diploma or Certificate in Office Administration from a recognized institution.
  • Possess a minimum of two years’ experience in an administrative role.
  • Demonstrate high proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills, including grammar and spelling.
  • Familiarity with office administration procedures.
  • Previous experience using Calendar Spot is advantageous.
