Description:

We are seeking to appoint registrar doctors (i.e. with full MRCP) to join our team in Acute Medicine at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
This post offers specialist experience in acute medicine combined with substantial training opportunities. The clinical work includes both day and night shifts working on the acute medical take alongside another medical registrar, as well as experience in the Acute Medicine Unit (AMU), ambulatory care and on cardiology ward rounds. There is also substantial self-development time (SDT) built into the rota (roughly 1 week in every 8).
This post is not formally recognised for training but applicants may wish to keep a portfolio during their fellowship that can be used as evidence of 12 months experience in acute/general medicine. Also, applicants holding a National Training Number (NTN) can apply for OOPT/E using the recognised approval processes. The role is al-so open to applicants both with and without an NTN.
Successful applicants will be invited to the IMT teaching programme (one halfway per month), the acute medicine departmental teaching programme (four sessions per week), and to simulation training days that cover both clinical skills and scenario-based training in leadership and human factors for medical registrars.
The post holder will be encouraged to contribute to the Acute Medicine Teaching pro-gramme. The successful appointee will have an accredited consultant educational/clinical supervisor.
The appointed fellow will work with a large cohort of doctors, including Foundation Year 1 and 2, Internal Medicine Trainees years 1-3, ACCS ST1, GP ST1, Clinical Research Fellows, and consultants.
The successful candidate will gain experience across different areas; including Ambulatory Care, Same Day Emergency Care and the Acute Medical Unit. They will work with the Cardiology team at UCLH, gain experience working as the Duty Medical Registrar and have self-directed time to fill in their portfolio, conduct QI and audit work and teaching medical students. The Job Description includes a full list of duties but the below is an indicative timetable.
