QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least three (3) years in a related accounting position.
  • High technical aptitude, including high-level Microsoft Excel skills, accounting software, and databases.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred.
  • Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations.

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a highly organized and motivated Staff Accountant to perform detailed account reconciliations, review financial data & transactions, and prepare general ledger journal entries to ensure timely completion of the monthly financial statement closing activities. This position requires excellent independent judgment and discretionary decision-making skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Exercise a high-degree of discretion to successfully support the Accounting department.
  • Review and research accounting transactions.
  • Create and maintain spreadsheets supporting the financial statements, management reporting, and tax compliance.
  • Regularly maintain detailed account reconciliations to the general ledger including; bank reconciliations, AR, AP, Inventory, PR, fixed assets, long-term debt, and other balance sheet accounts as assigned.
  • Assist in the month-end closing of the general ledger including preparation and posting of appropriate journal entries, reserves, accruals, and provisions.
  • Assist with Monthly Washington B&O Tax Filings and other local tax returns.
  • Continuously strives for process improvement and quality outcomes as part of the monthly closing process.
