JANA’s Staff Accountant is an enthusiastic, creative and meticulous individual, with a passion for people and drive for details. You will support JANA’s Finance Teams and HR, with a focus on Accounts Payable, Receivable, Payroll support, Benefits administration, HR and Recruitment support. You will manage personnel files, perform compliance audits, and maintain employee information in the Payroll, Benefits, and HRIS systems.
With an energetic personality and a love of process, you are comfortable wearing many hats and are unafraid of new challenges. The Staff Accountant reports to the Controller.

Responsibilities

  • Setting up, running, and reconciling semi-monthly Payroll for 200+ employees, including adjustment entries, and yearend processing.
  • Processes New Hires, Employee Changes, and Separations in the Payroll, Benefits and HRIS systems. Updates Payroll (ADP) system with changes in job title, salary, department, division, corresponding to changes made in HRIS system.
  • Prepare and disburse invoices to customers.
  • Enters invoices and expenses reimbursements into the accounting system.
  • Records cash receipts and makes bank deposits.
  • Ability to come into the office to pick up mail and cheques
  • Manage office facilities, able to come in and call maintenance if needed
  • Hand off office access cards if needed
  • Prepares and completes timely cheque runs, including wires and EFT payments.
  • Provides HR administrative support and additional support to Finance team.
  • Drafting of employee offers, contracts, and other employee change-related documentation.
  • Maintains Personnel Files, runs data checks to ensure all records are accurate
  • Serves as a point of contact for any Benefits-related requests.
  • Responds to general questions from employees and ensures issues are answered in a timely manner, or escalated as required.
  • Responds to employment verification requests and provides employee letters and supporting documentation.
  • Completes special projects/other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Completed an undergraduate degree, preferably in Business, Human Resources, Administration or equivalent.
  • Knowledge or experience with full-cycle bookkeeping.
  • Experience with QuickBooks or NetSuite, an asset.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast paced and deadline-driven environment, managing conflicting priorities.
  • Meticulous, self-motivated, able to work independently as well as part of a service-oriented team.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with ADP WorkforceNow is an asset
  • Demonstrated professionalism in dealing with highly sensitive and confidential issues and individuals at all levels of the corporation.
  • Excellent MS Office skills – MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access
  • A team player with a positive attitude, setting high standards for personal achievement and encouraging the JANA Team as a whole.
  • Able to come into the office if needed, must be local to Aurora or surrounding towns
