Description:

If you’re looking to build your career in accounting, there’s currently a Staff Accountant position through Robert Half that you may want to check out. This is career-building opportunity is located in the West Springfield, Massachusetts region and offered on a short-term contract basis. As Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for preparing monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. The majority of time spent will be dedicated to producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. During the monthly close, your will also be in charge of many aspects of internal reporting. You will also communicate with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, play an active role in compliance, and review schedules for the reporting processes.

Your responsibilities

  • Create monthly statement analysis to be used for management reportings
  • Commentate on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner
  • Be a part of various initiatives spanning multiple departments
  • Play a role in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation
  • Aid in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
  • Ad-hoc tasks and special projects, as needed
  • Perform month end close, journal entries with minimum supervision
  • Maintain monthly payment schedules
  • Maintain intricate journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
  • Carry out fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
  • Recent and relevant accounting experience
  • Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills required
  • Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis
  • Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases
  • Budget forecasting experience preferred
  • Journal entries experience
  • Strong familiarity with Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledgeable of ERP systems
  • Vow to meet business deadlines
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment
  • BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
  • Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems
  • High attention to detail
