Description:

The innovative team at Robert Half is looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to help further their efforts in the Real Estate Property/Facilities Mgt industry on a permanent basis. The Staff Accountant will prepare journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance and general ledger reconciliation. Throughout the monthly close, you will also be responsible for various aspects of internal reporting. You will assist in developing and implementing accounting policies. Also, you will participate in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes. This role is very integrated as it plays a part in the production of Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. This is a challenging, multi-faceted opportunity in the Norfolk, Virginia area, at a company where effort is rewarded.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation
  • Coordinate and analyze a variety of financial data, then report it in a way that is useful and understandable
  • Assemble analyses for monthly balance sheets and income statements for management reporting
  • Periodic maintenance and reconciliation of journal entries
  • Prepare complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
  • Implement, maintain, and adhere to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
  • Manage schedules for capital lease and monthly payments
  • Conduct month end close and compose journal entries with minimal supervision
  • In-depth experience with month end balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Impromptu reporting and special projects, when requested
  • Take part in various department-wide initiatives
  • Maintain depreciation, fixed asset ledgers, and reconciliation
  • Intercompany billings, transactions, and reconciliation

  • Well-founded grasp of Microsoft Excel
  • Proven knowledge of Debit Credit
  • Earlier work involving VLOOKUP
  • Reconciliations experience
  • Proficiency in Ledger Reconciliations
  • Experience with general ledger
  • Quality experience with Intercompany Transaction
  • Command of bank reconciliations
  • Practical knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Wide ranging experience with cash management
  • General familiarity with Excel Formulas
  • Comprehensive knowledge of cash reconciliations
  • Spreadsheet and database capabilities
  • Candidate must possess first-rate analytical, quantitative and social skills
  • Be detailed, flexible, and organized
  • 3+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience
  • BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
  • Vow to meet business deadlines
  • Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Competent with spreadsheets and databases
  • Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills required
