Staff Accountant

We are in search of a meticulous Staff Accountant to join our team located in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. The primary role will be to manage bi-monthly payroll for a significant number of employees, conduct account reconciliation, and undertake project work related to audit preparation and budgeting. This is a contract employment opportunity that involves working in a fast-paced environment.

• Accurately process bi-monthly payroll for a large number of employees.
• Handle the submission of federal withholdings and manage union deductions.
• Conduct account reconciliation tasks during less hectic off-weeks.
• Participate in project work to support audit preparation and finalizing budgeting books.
• Ensure the HR department’s processes are followed and assist in writing procedures for the same.
• Handle miscellaneous projects as and when they arise.
• Use automated payroll systems to streamline processes and ensure accuracy.
• Continuously monitor and update finance procedures to ensure efficiency.
• Manage and resolve any payroll-related inquiries from employees.
• Collaborate with the HR department for initial training and procedure writing.
• Possession of a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Proficiency in bi-monthly payroll processing is essential.
• Familiarity with automated payroll systems is required.
• Proven experience in account reconciliation is a must.
• Excellent knowledge of accounting principles and best practices.
• Proficient in using financial software and MS Office Suite.
• Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work within tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• High level of integrity and ability to maintain strict confidentiality of financial data.
• CPA certification is a plus.
