Description:
Looking to advance your accounting career? Robert Half has a Staff Accountant role in the Education sector. Responsibilities include monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. You’ll contribute to internal reporting, implement accounting policies, ensure compliance, and collaborate with external auditors. Located in Middlesex County, New Jersey, this position offers rewarding opportunities for growth and development. Your responsibilities:
- Help with the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
- Manage capital lease and monthly payment schedules
- Be a part of various department-wide initiatives
- Prepare complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
- Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as needed
- Participate in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation
- Analyze and coordinate a variety of financial data, and report it in a useful and understandable manner
- Carry out fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
- Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for management reporting
- Carry out month end close, journal entries, without supervision
- Foundational knowledge in Accounts Payable (AP)
- Deep understanding of billing
- Grant accounting experience required
- Enterprise resource planning experience highly desired
- Solid understanding of GAAP Accounting
- Vow to meet business deadlines
- Competent with spreadsheets and databases
- experienced organizational, written and verbal communication skills
- Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems
- Be detailed, flexible, and organized
- Proficient with spreadsheets and databases
- BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
- Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment
- Proficient in ERP systems
- 2+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience
- Sharp, analytical thinking abilities, always seeking to draw connections and identify the “why”
