Description:
Robert Half is looking for a Staff Accountant for a long-term contract / temporary to hire position. The Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. You will be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. In addition, you will support the development and implementation of accounting policies. In addition, you will take part in compliance, review schedules for the reporting processes, and interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits. This very involved position works to produce Cash Flow projections, Budgets, and Financial Statements. This company offers a challenging and multi-faceted opportunity where effort is rewarded and the role is based in the Sykesville, Maryland region.
Your responsibilities in this role
- Partake in annual closing processes
- Maintain capital lease and monthly payment schedules
- Oversee the creation of monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for reporting to management
- Carry out month end close, journal entries, without supervision
- Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested
- Prepare complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
- Help with the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
- Maintain fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
- Offer descriptions of a large number of financial data and communicate insights in a useful and understandable manner
- Participate in various department-wide initiatives
- Observant, accurate and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Competent with spreadsheets and databases
- Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems
- Adeptness in Fixed asset management
- Solid understanding of Microsoft Great Plains Accounting
- Demonstrated knowledge of general ledger
- Foundational knowledge in Balance Sheet Reconciliation
- Account reconciliation experience
- Experience with account reconciliation
- Proficiency in Bank Account Reconciliation
- Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines
- 2+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience
- BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
- Remarkable analytical, quantitative and social skills
- ERP system experience
- Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment, to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent
- Mature organizational, written and verbal communication skills
