Description:

Provides technical support to the Office of Special Education related to the provision of Individual Education Programs (IEP)-mandated special education and related services. Ensures compliance with all Special Education regulations related to transportation and discipline.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, business, management, public administration or related field. Degree must be from an accredited college or institution.
  • Three years of administration experience in education or related field (special education, specialized services and/or alternative programs, preferred).
  • Exceptional verbal and written communications skills including the ability to make effective presentations to diverse audiences.
  • Interpersonal skills that ensure effective teambuilding.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a high pressure, deadline regulated atmosphere.

  • Ability to think strategically and manage programs and partnerships.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including staff and partners, community and business agencies; federal, state and local officials.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages the placement of all one-on-one and classroom aides for Special Education programs and students throughout the district.
  • Recommends courses of action related to aide placements that will best facilitate the delivery of special education services.
  • Develops and maintains an effective rapport with Special Education services vendors.
  • Creates and delivers professional development regarding processes and best use of Special Education aides.
  • Utilizes knowledge of IEPs and the IEP process to effectively determine appropriate aide usage.
  • Maintains the aide’s database and works with application developers on an ongoing basis to implement tools which will facilitate smoother deployment of aides and improved tracking of special education service delivery.
  • Assists in the processing of special education vendors invoicing and apply specialized knowledge to verify service delivery.
  • Conducts audits, inspections and investigations related to special education services.
  • Implements cost forecasting using accepted financial models and identify problems quickly to provide remedies.
  • Creates purchase orders and interacts with the Procurement Office on a frequent basis to ensure no interruptions in vendor payments.
  • Performs and promotes all activities in compliance with equal employment and nondiscrimination policies; follows federal laws, state laws, school board policies and the professional standards.
