    Where the team fits in
    The Staff Developer sits in the Media Team, within the Advertising Portfolio.
    The Media squad helps consumers share, rent, buy, sell and enjoy property, by connecting them with all sorts of products and services to help them along their property journey. This includes finance products, utilities, home services, furnishings, automotive and many more innovative advertising and lead generation tools. The fast-growing Media business includes a cross-functional team from Product, IT, Sales, Marketing, PR and Communications, HR, Finance and Legal. We’re all about using digital solutions to make property and everything that supports consumers around property, simple, efficient and stress free
    What the role is all about

The Staff Developer supports the Media Team in the following ways:

  • Writing, testing and documenting code according to REA Engineering standards and practices
  • Leading or significantly contributing to initiatives with strategic focus and value
  • Solving deep, complex technical problems in ways that enable other team members to learn and extend
  • Supporting the Lead Developer/Tech Lead in setting the technical direction
  • Providing technical mentoring and guidance to less experienced members of the team
  • Supporting and driving continuous improvement of our production systems and being an advocate for the overall health of our systems
  • Working with stakeholders to design high quality solutions that meet the needs of our users, including vendor platforms
  • Becoming the subject matter expert for the Products and related systems owned by Media team

Who we’re looking for

  • Advanced skills in designing solutions that scale and perform for millions of users.
  • Advanced skills in developing long-term system architecture strategies.
  • Expert skills in building full stack web products using open source and cloud technologies.
  • Expert skills in one or more of our technical competencies - TypeScript/JavaScript
  • Experience designing and using databases in RDBMS or MySQL
  • Good data analysis skills (e.g. SQL/Tableau/Google BigQuery)
  • Experience with modern software development techniques (e.g. functional programming, microservice architecture, test-driven development and CI/CD)
  • Able to communicate and collaborate effectively with business stakeholders.
  • Able to understand business, customer and consumer needs to provide appropriate data solutions.
  • Able to mentor other engineers in a collaborative agile team environment.
  • Someone passionate about data and the latest data technologies.
  • Experience working in Media/AdTech industry is desired – Bidding solutions, DSPs, SSPs, Tag Management, CDPs, as well as knowledge of targeting and creative setup used in media campaigns
