JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
As a recognized technical expert in the field of aerodynamic, mechanical and interdisciplinary methods, the Senior Engineer will be responsible to provide technical leadership and guidance to GE Aerospace’s global design teams, in all aspects associated to design and analysis methods, application, development, and future strategy supporting the execution of GE Aerospace’s advanced technology demonstrators as part of the RISE Open Fan program, and future, next-generation commercial aircraft engine products.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- Master’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 10+ years of industrial experience.
- Strong understanding of the physics and principles associated with aircraft engine component and general turbomachinery design.
- Proven track record in delivering on complex programs and ability to work in cross-functional global team in multi-cultural environments.
- Demonstrated ability to advance the technology state of the art and ability to generate innovative solutions.
- Hands-on experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics, programming, and analytical and numerical methods development.
- Fluency in English.
Responsibilities:
- Solves challenging technical issues and leads root cause investigations associated with design and analysis methods, proactively applies learnings across programs and teams.
- Broadens expertise in adjacent technical disciplines (e.g., mechanical, aero-mechanical, thermal, acoustics) and drives multi-disciplinary initiatives aimed at delivering business impacts at system level.
- Guides team to learn and adapt and work with organizational leaders and other cognizant discipline experts to build capability and capacity in the field of multi-disciplinary optimization, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data visualization, acts as a technical mentor to younger engineers.
- Identifies improvement opportunities within the aerothermal and interfacing disciplines, establishes standardized engineering workflows, and applies Lean tools to remove waste.
- Supports the setup of GE Aerospace’s next-generation high-fidelity simulation framework, inclusive of standard RANS/URANS and advanced high-fidelity CFD.
- Actively participates and/or leads GE Design Board committee efforts, mobilizing actions, and driving outcomes on customer priorities.
- Communicates in a positive and solutions-oriented manner, capable of influencing at different levels of the organization.
- Manages and drives research and technology activities targeting next-generation applications, including planning of external funding proposals.
- Promotes a culture of innovation, helps driving IP strategy around multi-disciplinary system optimization, machine learning, and data visualization.
