AKRF is seeking a Staff Engineer to support our Engineering team in our New York City and White Plains offices. This individual will serve a key function in helping to design commercial, residential, mixed-use, and industrial properties, along with large-scale utility projects. The potential candidate will have the opportunity to work in an environment of encouragement and collaboration to help AKRF shape the future of New York.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist with preparing and modifying various engineering documents including reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, cost estimates, and design plans for projects using engineering and design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, etc.) and equipment.
- Use record documents, reports, maps, drawings, engineering plans, tests, and aerial photographs to assess site characteristics such as hydrology, topographical and geologic data and their impact on the planning and design of projects.
- Site/civil design includes site planning, layout, grading, drainage, utility design, stormwater management, soil erosion, and sediment control.
- Familiarity with current local, state, and federal land use permitting is a plus, but not required.
- Performs other duties as requested.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
- 2-3 of prior relevant professional experience in site/civil engineering;
- FE/EIT certification preferred.
- An understanding of site planning and civil engineering for land development and utility infrastructure projects including site layout, grading, drainage, storm water management and utilities.
- Familiarity with NYS and NYC design regulations and permitting requirements are preferred, but not required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities.
- Reliable transportation to access job sites, on occasion, with a valid driver’s license in good standing.
- Demonstrates ability to follow direction and work in a collaborative team environment.
- Occasional field work may be required.
Compensation will range from $75K-$85K, and commensurate with experience.
