Description:

Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century’s most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Anduril’s family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.
The Mission Software Engineering team builds, deploys, integrates, extends, and scales Anduril’s software to deliver mission-critical capabilities to our customers. As the software engineers closest to Anduril customers and end-users, Mission Software Engineers solve technical challenges of operational scenarios while owning the end-to-end delivery of winning capabilities such as Counter Intrusion, Joint All Domain Command & Control, and Counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems.
Within our Command & Control team, we are building a family of C2 hardware systems with highly software defined features. We create an outstanding, differentiated product by deeply integrating our software with the compute, communications and power hardware and providing intuitive user experiences for our customers. We are looking for an engineer who can own, architect, implement and drive forward our software-defined-hardware functionality and is comfortable at the boundary between electrical systems, firmware and software, with a deep understanding of the customer and their mission. Ideally this engineer is willing to tech-lead other engineers or interested in growing into such a role.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong engineering background from industry or school, ideally in areas/fields such as Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics
  • 8+ years experience working in a low level systems language: C++, Rust or C
  • Experience working with Linux
  • Experience working with communication protocols such as TCP/IP, RS485 or CAN
  • Experience working with hardware.
  • Experience creating project roadmaps and leading engineers.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience writing firmware
  • Experience programming Cisco routers
  • Experience working with RF radios
  • Experience working with SD WAN networking equipment
  • Experience working with military communications hardware and protocols

Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Implement a number of hardware <> software integrations across the power, communications and compute subsystems in the Rust programming language.
  • Set an example and create guidelines for other engineers on what an excellent hardware integration looks like.
  • Own and create common Rust libraries that make hardware integrations continuously easier.
  • Create Hardware-in-the-Loop (HITL) tests that prevent regressions in the codebase.
  • Participate in preparation for and (pending clearance) execution of customer demonstrations.
  • Meet with customers to break down requirements.
  • Work cross functionally with the mechanical, electrical, systems engineering and leadership team to build the Menace product.
  • Travel up to 30% of time to build, test, and deploy capabilities in the real world
