We are a fast paced ward caring for both elective and emergency surgical patients. We care for patients with variety of conditions and surgical procedures to provide nurses with broad nursing skills that are adaptable to different nursing environments . If you enjoy making a difference to patient experience and care from admission to rehabilitation post-surgery this is the ward for you.

The candidate would show excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team and autonomously. You will need to be approachable, act as a role model and uphold the best standards of care for patients. The candidate will need to show ability to work effectively under pressure and manage challenging situations. You would need to have a keen interest in surgical nursing care and be motivated to maintaining skills up to date and following evidence based practice guidelines.
We have 19 Registered Nurses, 2 Registered Nursing Associates and 15 Healthcare Assistants within our team on Ward 2b. We care for a variety of surgical patients including head and neck and maxillofacial surgery . We have exciting opportunities for career development at trust study days and ward based training sessions delivered by specialty consultants. As a band 5 Staff Nurse you would be responsible for caring for your own caseload of patients. This would involve assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care needs and assessments.
You would be caring for surgical patients following head and neck surgery but can also be caring for other surgical speciality patients on the ward. You would also be working with nursing assistants and student nurses and need to delegate tasks effectively and safely. You would work closely and liaise with the multi-disciplinary team regularly to ensure patient care needs are met. You would practice in line with Trust Polices and Procedures and comply with data protection and confidentiality legislation. To would need to actively participate in both mandatory training and education development opportunities relevant to your role
