Description:

These are just some of the qualities “enthusiastic, motivated, committed” used to describe the nursing staff who thrive in our busy emergency department environment. We promise it won’t be dull, every day is a learning day. There isn’t much we haven’t encountered but as with everything we do, we do it as a team, dealing with things head on and supporting each other through every challenge we face.
Some staff comments are,” immensely proud to work within the fast paced ED, incredibly rewarding, encouraged and supported to progress within the department, ED provides ongoing and up to date training through external study days and in-house training, the team is welcoming and always has a positive outlook despite the many challenges of the environment, the varied multi-disciplinary team working together to provide holistic care to patients, it is a rewarding job that never feels like a chore.”
We asked nursing staff why they loved working in ED and their biggest reason was they all felt part of the ED family. We spend a lot of our time in work, so it’s great to know that this is how our staff feel and it’s definitely our biggest strength.
We are looking to recruit motivated and dynamic individuals with a passion for emergency nursing.
Our band 5 nurses value the provision of dignified and compassionate care and rely on a supportive and team spirited environment in which to work. They are dedicated individuals who demonstrate daily a willingness to learn and develop themselves and others for the benefit of our patients. This creates a progressive, supportive and knowledgeable department which thrives on the unpredictability and fast pace of emergency medicine.
Successful applicants will join our dedicated nursing team and will be responsible for delivering high standards of care for a wide range of patients. To do this we expect that you will be able to use initiative and autonomy, whilst working alongside other members of the multi-disciplinary team, utilising excellent communication skills to ensure best patient outcome.
We believe staff are our best asset and we want you to be happy and confident about starting your career here in Swansea Bay University Health Board.
As one of the biggest healthcare groups in the UK we can offer a wealth of professional training and development opportunities in an innovative, forward-thinking organisation.

There are also apprenticeships, work placements and volunteering roles available.
We are an inclusive employer and welcome applications from everyone whatever their sex; religion or belief; race; age; sexual orientation; gender identity or, whether they are pregnant or have recently been on maternity leave, married or are in a civil partnership; or, whether they are disabled.

We encourage and support progression into specialist roles within the department e.g. emergency nurse practitioner/advanced nurse practitioner for those staff wishing to follow these pathways. Whether you are bringing past emergency nursing experience or looking to gain experience of working in a busy ED, we would love to hear from you.
