Description:

We have an exciting full-time opportunity for Registered Nurses who have a keen interest in Gastroenterology to join our dynamic team on Endoscopy Unit at Wexham Park Hospital.
We are JAG accredited department, which currently has 4 procedure rooms and 14 recovery bays.
We provide a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures for outpatients and inpatients. Our nurses are at the forefront of influencing the patient’s experience and have excellent acute care skills, communication, and organisational skills along with a supportive manner. The unit enjoys a robust nursing management structure and strong clinical leadership. The unit carries out procedures as part of the National Bowel Cancer Screening Programme.
In this role you will have the opportunity to develop your skills in endoscopy working closely with your allocated mentor and supported by senior staff and the practice development team. You will receive support to undertake further education for career and role development, including various external and internal study days, an in-house competency programme and access to the national JETS Workforce competence workforce.
The unit currently operates a 7-day service, Monday to Sunday, 8am to 6pm. We also have an out of hour’s Upper GI Bleed emergency service which you will be expected to be part of, once competent.
You will be expected to provide clinical care, supporting the other RN’s, NIC and the Senior team with the day to day running of the department. Supporting students and other temporary or junior staff to ensure a high standard of care and patient experience are maintained in line with the Frimley Health Strategy, Vision and Values.
To display a visible clinical presence, supporting the Endoscopy team to achieve a high standard of evidence-based care, procedures, and treatment specific to the clinical need, working within the FH competency framework appropriate to role and scope of practice, including the use of medical devices and endoscopic equipment.
To demonstrate a sound knowledge of the principles of infection control and always complying with FH Infection Control Policies.
To ensure compliance with all FH and Endoscopy policies and guidelines, e.g. (but not limited to) consent, chaperoning, WHO checklist, COSHH, Information Governance.
To work with other RN’s and NIC to ensure patients safe, appropriate, and timely discharge from the department following interventional procedures.
To work closely with the senior and multi-disciplinary team ensuring excellent and effective communication is maintained.

To work as a member of the nursing team, under the direction of the senior team to provide the highest quality of competent, integrated nursing care and patient pathways within the department, supported by FH strategy, values, policies and procedures.

  • To deputize for department sister in their absence, if they are attending other meetings etc.

  • To support, supervise and assess all learners, students, temporary new and junior staff within the departments.
