We have a unique, caring and inclusive team who are delighted to be responsible for the care of Children and Young People from 5 days to 18 years old, across Hampshire. Our department has a 4 bedded High Dependency Unit and 22 inpatient beds. We have close links with our Paediatric Assessment Unit, Neonatal Unit, Children’s Outpatient Department, Paediatric A&E and our Children’s Community Nursing Teams as well as our regional Children’s Hospital in Southampton. We promote strong interdepartmental and cross-site working relationships with both Heatherwood and Wexham Park Hospital.
You will be keen to promote clinical excellence as part of a highly motivated team.
With minimal supervision, be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care, recognising individual patient needs.
To ensure religious, emotional and psychological support for patients/Families
To give and receive adequate and appropriate handover reports in matters relating to patient care, ensuring that staff have an up-to-date knowledge of the patient’s condition so that appropriate nursing care can be given.
To participate in setting and maintaining standards of patient care based on
Sound research findings.
In consultation with the team leader, be adaptable in terms of patient allocation to meet the changing needs of patients and other staff members.
Provide legible and comprehensive patient records to agreed Trust and NMC standards and guidelines.
To liaise with Team Leader on untoward incidents, complaints and Team/Staff issues.
To act in accordance with trust policies and nursing procedures

General responsibilities
To assist and carry out all administrative duties as delegated by the Team leader, being responsible for the security and recording of patient valuables.
To comply with the Trust’s fire precautions and procedures for evacuation
Demonstrate a sound knowledge of infection control standards and promote these within ward environment.
To ensure confidentiality of information regarding patients, families and friends at all times.
To promote people’s equality, diversity and rights
To communicate on a regular basis with staff regarding the Trust’s objectives, plans and business developments.
To contribute towards individual &Team objectives
To train and develop members of staf
