Description:

This is an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse (with current UK NMC pin, or a student nurse soon to qualify) to join a 28 bedded ward which is at the forefront of providing a regional spinal service. The Centre for Spinal Surgery and Studies takes simple and complex spinal conditions and surgery. It is also a major tertiary referral centre for the wider East Midlands. Our surgeons are forward thinking and research active so much of our surgery is pioneering and done minimally invasively. We use the principles of enhanced recovery to improve our patient outcomes.
We have a caring and supportive team of nurses dedicated to the continuing delivery of safe and excellent care which is supported by our excellent patient feedback. We are looking for individuals who are enthusiastic, highly motivated and willing to expand their knowledge and practical skills.
Working on D8 will give you the opportunity to develop your skills around pre and post-operative care, wound management, drains, pain management and management of a patient following Critical Care step down.
We believe in support and development of all our staff and have a dedicated clinical educator. If you are successful in your recruitment, we will offer an individualised supernumerary period with an ongoing personal development plan. You will go on a local, surgical and corporate induction programme with opportunities to go on a pain management course, spinal cord injury course, tissue viability and wound management course, supervisor training, link role training and the opportunity to join the shared governance council.
Newly qualified nurses will join our established preceptorship programme with a six day acute care skills foundation course and resilience-focused clinical supervision.
With over 19,000 staff, we are one of the biggest employers in the city with a central role in supporting the health and wellbeing of our local population. We play a leading role in research, education and innovation.
Come and join our wonderful team at NUH. We are big believers in diversity and welcome new ideas to help develop our team in order to deliver world class healthcare to the vast patient populations we serve. With endless personal development opportunities available, at NUH we will endeavour to turn your job into a career!
We particularly welcome applications from people who identify as Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic, or Disabled, as we are striving to be better represented at NUH.
