Description:
The post involves participating in all aspects of osteoporosis assessment and management. Bone density measurements are performed by nurses to enable diagnosis and disease management. Patient assessment following fracture allows risk factors to be identified and where possible bone health education is undertaken to minimise the risks. Following scanning, explanations are given regarding management and medication regimes.
Participation in national audit including case finding as part of an ongoing fracture initiative in secondary care at Medway is an integral part of the work. The post holder is one of a team of nurses
