Description:
A position is available for a Registered Nurse to work in the Nuclear Medicine department at the Christie NHS Foundation Trust. The Christie is situated in south Manchester and is an international leader in cancer research and development. It is the largest cancer treatment centre of its kind in Europe.
You would form part of a multi-disciplinary team that provides the clinical Nuclear Medicine service to patients of The Christie. The team provides a specialist imaging service to include PET-CT and an extensive molecular radiotherapy and in-vitro services. The working pattern is a 5 day week /7.5hrs day, covering the hours between 8am and 6pm as part of the nursing team. Some flexibility with extended working days will be required.

Responsibilities:
- To be part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Providing a nursing role within the Nuclear Medicine Department, with a particular remit for the patients attending for PET-CT scans and Molecular Radiotherapy.
- Providing routine and research nursing support to nuclear medicine patients and their carers.
- To maintain and develop protocols in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team for the care of patients attending the Nuclear Medicine Department.

To work according to the NMC’s Code of professional conduct in providing care for patients attending for nuclear medicine investigations and treatments.
To provide nursing expertise within the Nuclear Medicine Department in support of technologists, radiographers, clinical scientists and medical staff:
To maintain and develop protocols in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team for the care of patients attending the Nuclear Medicine Department - Patient preparation and administration of radiopharmaceuticals
To understand the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations (2000) and demonstrate competence as an operator.
To ensure that a smooth pathway is maintained for patients attending for PET scans - Teaching, training and supervision
To support and assist junior staff/Health Care Assistants.
To support and assist all staff with the writing / introduction of new protocols and training in nursing procedures - Audit
To participate in audit and risk management initiatives that improve the services provided for patients and relatives. - Health and Safety
To help to maintain a safe environment and report faults/risks etc to the Lead Clinical Technologist. - Educational development
To take responsibility for own professional development and maintain a personal development plan
