Description:

Working as a Staff Nurse in Surgical Reception/Day Surgery you will be required to function effectively as a member of the peri-operative team to ensure the provision and development of an efficient and high-quality surgical service.
You must be motivated and enthusiastic with a passion for high quality patient care, as well as the ability to work well under pressure and flexibly as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
You will assist in developing high standards of clinical practice in relation to post-operative care. You will need to deliver a holistic care package which is current, evidence based and effective and ensure that Surgical Reception/day Surgery criteria is adhered to before Admission and discharging patients.
We are committed to ongoing professional development and opportunities exist to undertake a wide range of in-house and university-based training programme. Opportunities are available to rotate in areas such as Main Theatres, Day Surgery Unit, Macmillan Cancer Centre, and Grafton Way Building.
The successful candidate will hold the appropriate qualifications to be a current registered practitioner (RN or ODP) and demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development.
Newly qualified Operating Department Practitioners (ODP) are encouraged to apply.
Ensure a welcoming, caring, and safe environment, as well as promoting, maintaining, and monitoring standards in accordance with the guidelines of the NMC/HCPC and CQC.
You will devise, implement, and assess individualised care plans for a wide and diverse patient group, and promoting best evidence-based practice.
You will supervise and support members of the Day Surgery Unit ensuring that all staff is able to provide the highest standard of care.
Support the training and development programme initiated by the Division to ensure staff members achieve their full potential.
Maximise use of clinical resources, implementing best practice in patient flow, admission and discharge arrangements.

IN ADDITION YOU MUST HAVE:

Registration with the Health Professions Council OR a NMC registered Nurse
Extensive knowledge of nursing care in a perioperative environment
Evidence of leading a team within a clinical environment
Proven experience of managing change within a clinical setting
A recognised qualification and experience of supporting learners would be advantageous.
Demonstrates a good working knowledge and compliance with CQC Standards
