Description:

The endoscopy unit at UCLH is one of the largest units in the UK, performing over 14,000 procedures a year. There are seven state-of-the-art endoscopy rooms and a 16-bay recovery area.
We pride ourselves on delivering high-quality diagnostic, screening and surveillance endoscopy, as well as innovative therapeutic endoscopy. We have one of the largest hepatobiliary and upper gastrointestinal (GI) therapeutic endoscopy services in the UK, offering some cutting-edge procedures to our patients.
UCLH is also the main North London screening centre for colorectal cancer and leads the way in engaging with our neighbouring services to provide care to a wide variety of patients. The endoscopy unit holds several live endoscopy courses each year and has an active academic portfolio of high impact international and national clinical studies.
Act as a Named Nurse (with facilitation) and maintain accountability for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the care provided
Act as an advocate for the patient, providing them with information and support and directing them to the relevant support services where appropriate
Take the appropriate action to address any issues or risks
Respect people’s dignity, wishes and beliefs; involve them in shared decision-making and obtain their consent before undertaking nursing procedures
Promote a patient focused multidisciplinary approach to care in collaboration with carers, health care professionals and other agencies
Ensure that treatments prescribed by the medical staff are carried out, and that multidisciplinary team members are informed of changes in the patient’s condition
Ensure safe and timely transfer of patients in accordance with UCLH policy
