Description:

The Staff Research Associate II position in the area of neuroimaging is available within the UCSF Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging in the laboratory of Dr. Yan Li. The successful candidate will collect, transfer, process, and analyze MR data from patients and volunteers.
The Department of Radiology & Biomedical Imaging at UCSF combines clinical excellence, cutting-edge research, and outstanding education in a leading academic health sciences institution.
As part of the role, the SRA II will have the opportunity to work closely with neurooncologists, psychiatrists, neurosurgeons, imaging scientists and engineers. The knowledge and skills learned provide excellent preparation for medical school or for graduate school in neuroscience, bioengineering, and psychology.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

The Department of Radiology & Biomedical Imaging is one of the largest departments within the School of Medicine, generating more than $40 million in professional fee revenues each year, and submitting grant proposals resulting in $30-40 million of awards each year. More than 90% of the MD faculty in Radiology is based at the Parnassus Campus, including nine of the ten clinical sections and their chiefs, and five of the seven vice chairs. The department has significant clinical and research operations at China Basin, Mission Bay, the VAMC, ZSFG, and Mount Zion. It includes more than 150 academic personnel and approximately 225 staff FTE. In addition, there are more than 90 resident, fellow, and graduate student trainees.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA/BS in a related science (biomedical imaging, applied mathematics, engineering, etc.) and one or more years of recent, directly related work experience, utilizing the techniques or methods required by the position; and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • Previous exposure to a biomedical research laboratory environment
  • Knowledge of statistics

  • Experience in imaging science research
  • Ability to analyze imaging data
  • Ability to work with diverse team of researchers, scientists, and students
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to work independently, exercising judgment and initiative
  • Demonstrated record of reliability and excellent attendance
