ABOUT US
IMB (www.imb.de) is a research institute on the campus of Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, Germany. It is generously funded by the Boehringer Ingelheim Foundation and the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. Our research focuses on the biology of the cell nucleus and ranges from the molecular level to organismic, systems and computational approaches. We conduct basic research in gene regulation, genome stability, and the biology of aging. Researchers at IMB are supported by strong core facilities that offer state-of-the-art services in bioinformatics, cytometry, genomics, histology & microscopy, proteomics, and protein production. The Genomics Core Facility is looking for a highly motivated and experienced staff scientist (m/f/d) to join their team.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Requirements
- Completed doctoral studies in life sciences or related field
- Experience with genomics technology and good understanding of molecular biology
Desired Requirements
- Experience in developing protocols for NGS library preparation
- Experience with the operation of a NGS facility or other high-throughput techniques
- Experience in genome stability research
- Ability to perform high-quality analyses in a responsible and independent manner
- Strong communication skills, team spirit as well as good oral and written communication skills in English
WHAT ELSE YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Starting Date: October 2024 or as soon as possible
- Duration: The position is initially available for two years with the option for a permanent contract.

Responsibilities:
- Perform library preparation and quality control of DNA and RNA samples
- Develop and establish new protocols for NGS-based analyses
- Organize, schedule, monitor and report NGS projects
- Handle and maintain lab equipment and sequencers
- Automate library prep protocols with automatic liquid handlers
- Consult and train Core Facility users
