Description:

Our Engineering team owns the code that lets our customers do powerful things with our product, simply and intuitively. We care about delivering the right product iterations quickly - we build minimum viable products, deploy to production multiple times per day, listen to customer feedback, and iterate.
At Hive, we ingest high-volume data in real-time from 20+ integrations (like Ticketmaster and Shopify), we store and query billions of customer data points, and we send 200MM+ of email/SMS every month to our client’s customers. We’ve built a growing, profitable business and the scale of technical problems we’re solving is quickly growing too!
In this role, you will serve as both an advocate and coach for your team, tackling backend challenges, hands on coding and pairing, and enhancing product success in a fast-paced startup environment. Our ideal candidate combines leadership, technical expertise, and enthusiasm to enhance the productivity of the development team. As a technical leader, you’ll help establish the team’s vision and see it through.
We’re looking for someone with a deep understanding of backend engineering with a passion for performance and scale. You should also be strong at identifying and building the right abstractions to support other engineers.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead discussions and implementation of multiple complex projects
  • Collaborate on our technical vision
  • Assist and mentor full-stack engineers across different teams while advocating for them
  • Continuously improve our engineering processes, tools, and systems that allow us to scale the code base, productivity, and the team
  • Proactively engage with your peers and managers to provide and solicit feedback
  • Recruit, interview and develop your own interview questions, while fostering the culture of excellence, velocity and humility
