Staff Software Engineer

Working in our Enablement team at Mutinex you’ll be responsible for designing, building, upgrading and maintaining stable, secure and scalable software architecture and code that creates value for Mutinex and it’s customers.
As a Senior or Staff Engineer (we’re open to people at both levels) you’d be expected to design the architecture and act as a Technical lead to give our Engineers the best possible environment to work efficiently in building our GrowthOS & DataOS platforms for our customers.
We’re a relatively early stage startup that’s grown a lot this year, so you’d be someone that enjoys coming in at earlier stages into scrappier environments. We are a long way from being a big, slow, rigid corporate and hopefully we never get to that point.
Our office is close to Central station and we have a hybrid way of working, with 1-2 days a week in the office.
The role
Being dedicated to Engineering enablement, the role is more backend focused but will still require some frontend work. Our tech stack is node.js, typescript and Google Cloud (GCP), we’re also using Python, Dagster, DBT and Airflow but that’s not a requirement for this team.
You will enable scaling via optimal infrastructure, develop tooling, templates, automations and services.
You won’t have direct reports but we would expect you to have strong mentoring ability and help our less Senior Engineers learn and grow, while collaborating with our other Seniors on Technical decisions and architecture.

What we are looking for
We’re looking for someone who is either already a Staff level Engineer or a Senior who has led technical projects and can demonstrate strong Software architecture experience.
Experience with our tech stack is good to have but it’s more important that you have event driven architecture and ideally have already working in platform/developer enablement roles.
Mutinex is a startup so not everything here is perfect yet so you’ll be self aware your ability to work in environments like this. Which means being very hands on, collaborative, comfortable with change and enjoy building from earlier stages.

Being early stage means we’re also still pretty scrappy and you wouldn’t be coming into a well oiled machine, yet. But you would get a lot of opportunity to design, build and oil the machine until it’s super oily.

Founded in Australia, we’ve hit millions in ARR & have seed funding ($5 million in May 2023 & $9.5 million in October 2023 backed by EVP) that we’ll use for growing our team to continue to improve our product, bring in new customers and enable them to make better and more informed decisions.
We have a hybrid work environment with teams in Sydney, Melbourne and expanding into the US.

Equity (ESOP) is offered to all staff on top of their salary and we also offer additional annual leave after 1 year of tenure (from 20 to 25 days a year) that continues to grow another day each year of service until you max out at 30 days per year.
