Responsibilities

• As a part of the Mental Health Backend team, you will build the backend microservices to power our consumer facing mental health applications across mobile, web, and smart health devices.
• Partner with product managers, user experience designers, mobile and web front end engineers, and data scientists to support the full product lifecycle.
• Build applications across our cloud APIs and services that enable clinical data across multiple health platforms, allow doctors and coaches to provide patient care via seamless access to myStrength, and deliver data-science powered care and advice to users.
• Support projects for the team including grooming and sizing requirements, designing solutions, defining project plans and go to market strategy.
• Harness state of the art technologies such as Scala, AWS, Java, gRPC, Protobuf, Kubernetes, Kafka, Microservices, MySQL, ElasticSearch, RabbitMQ, FHIR, OAuth.

Candidate Profile

• 12+ years in functional object-oriented language (Scala , Java or Python).
• Experience implementing REST and/or gRPC APIs for consumer mobile and/or web applications or enterprise SaaS. Experience with GraphQL a plus.
• Experience building highly scalable distributed systems. Experience with event-driven architecture in a Microservices environment a plus.
• Experience designing and optimizing relational (MySQL) and non-relational (AWS DynamoDB) databases. Experience with ETL, SparkSQL, or AWS Redshift a plus.
• Knowledge of HTML, Javascript, CSS, and web frameworks such as angular, vue and react is a major plus.
• Experience working in a CI/CD (Jenkins) environment, supporting high quality releases with unit/system tests, and code reviews.
• Experience with distributed source control and collaboration tools (GitHub, Jira, Confluence etc)
• Experience with Agile software development practices (SAFe experience is a plus)
• BS/MS degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a related field. In lieu of a degree, relevant work experience and/or trade school is acceptable.
• Lead projects for the team including grooming and sizing requirements, designing solutions, defining project plans and go to market strategy, and mentoring and coaching junior engineers.
• Partner with product managers, designers, mobile and web front end engineers, data scientists, clinical experts, and technical operations to support the full product lifecycle.
• Passion, collaboration, and productivity in a dynamic cross-functional team environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
