Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Academic Services Specialist, the Staffing Officer performs a variety of duties to assist and support the teacher recruiting activities within their assigned area of schools and portfolio of centrally assigned positions.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Completion of College Diploma in Business or Human Resources.
2-3 years previous work experience in a Human Resources or Recruitment Department.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel and Google Suite.
Basic knowledge of SAP and Apply to Education.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities:

Work closely with principals of assigned area of schools to staff positions by preparing job postings and pre-screening applicants to ensure compliance with Board policies and collective agreements.
Create, maintain and monitor various excel databases to produce up-to-date statistics for recruitment, reporting, and planning activities as well as ensure that all related information is issued as per Staffing Procedures and Guidelines.
Complete Staff Adjustment Forms for approval as well as prepare and distribute employee letters related to appointments, changes and/or updates to status have occurred.
Process and manage various teacher leaves/retirements/resignations, including the preparation of appropriate documents and correspondence, updating databases, inputting data into SAP and coordinating the return to work process.
Formulate and calculate appropriate placement with salary grid for pay level in compliance with collective agreements.
Prepare job postings and screen applicants for all Continuing Education teaching positions.
Manage the roster of emergency retired teachers.
Support occasional teacher hiring and recruitment
Prepare for and represent the Board at recruitment fairs, interviewing, and other hiring activities.
Respond to inquiries from staff (permanent and occasional teachers) regarding salary, job posting status, leaves etc. by phone and email.
Administer the allocation and staffing of Teacher in Charge and Divisional Chair positions.
