The Start-Up Team Manager (STM) develops and maintains relationships with sponsors, executes and achieves site activation deliverables and ensures all project deliverables meet customer expectations and contracted deliverables.

STM’s provide accurate projections, report updates, and ongoing risk assessments and collaborates with other clinical teams to manage all financial and contractual aspects of the studies related to site activation. You will coordinate with our global teams in feasibility, site contracts and country approvals to manage the assigned work against timelines, costs, and quality.

  • Collaborates with global Start-up team members in a matrix environment for the effective delivery of site activation activities.
  • Oversees site activation for studies according to timelines and quality standard.
  • Coordinates of the flow of information between PPD teams and sponsors involved in site activation.
  • Develops recommended plans/guidelines for project implementation using PPD systems and tools.
  • Monitors and analyzes project status to provide metrics to senior management and Study PM.
  • Performs risk identification and provides contingency planning.
  • Collaborates with all teams to manage financial and contractual aspects of the studies related to site activation.
  • Establishes appropriate controls to ensure project resources and expenses are aligned with study budgets.
  • Participates with team leads to identify and evaluate issues pertaining to successful site activation, interpret data on complex issues, make good business decisions and ensure solutions are implemented.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification
  • Previous experience in clinical research (preferably site start up area) that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 5+ years’).
  • In some cases an equivalency, consisting of appropriate education, training, and/or directly related experience will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, liaise and coordinate cross-functional project teams.
  • Able to work well and efficiently with global cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the key principles of cross functional project management.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to identify and remedy risks related to contractual deliverables and provide appropriate solutions
  • Demonstrates sound understanding of cross cultural awareness and is able to adapt appropriately
  • Comprehensive understanding of clinical research/ development, including medical and therapeutic areas, phases of research
