Description:

JOB SUMMARY

  • Build models to assist in business operations, product development, and consulting services for WDS and WDIS
  • Data mining to build models to for business process optimization
  • Using and updating data sets to assist in maintaining and developing proprietary WDS Insurance and Operations models.
  • Developing and managing data structures and algorithms
  • Designing predictive models using modern machine learning and deep learning functions and algorithms

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Applied Math or related field
  • Experience using statistical computer languages (R, Python, SQL, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets.
  • Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications.
  • Experience with R, data processing, database programming and data analytics
  • Background in data mining and statistical analysis
  • Able to understand various data structures and common methods in data transformation
  • Excellent pattern recognition and predictive modeling skill
  • 1 Years of experience preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift 15-lbs.
  • Must be able to work in a general office environment, with typical office noise and lighting conditions.

WORK LOCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • This position will be primarily remote with the exception of any in-person training requirements outlined by the department manager.
  • The employee must be able to come into the Bozeman NCC to attend mandatory in-person meetings or other work obligations.

Responsibilities:

Statistician- WDS
a. Compile data from a wide variety of sources, both internally and externally, and exercise sound judgment in the accuracy and quality of data
b. Produce data models to enable creation of rating plans and evaluation of risk
c. Fulfill work ticket requests from Executives, Client Relations team, and other departments to support and deliver key data needs
d. Communicate and present analyses, metrics, and recommendations in a clear and concise way to support business decisions
e. Work independently and exercise sound judgment and discretion in professional interactions
f. Apply data acquisition, manipulation, and modeling methods with SQL, Python, and R
g. Work with WDS Operations team to optimize WDS response efficiency
h. Analyze and interpret data to help businesses with important decisions, problems, and logistical scenarios using calculus, mathematical modeling, and statistical analysis

Statistician-WDIS

  • Completes all tasks and responsibilities listed under item a) Statistician- WDS above, but for WDIS.
  • Focuses more on actuarial science in outlining risks and statistics involved in insurance and reinsurance business practice.
  • Applies proprietary WDS-design models and other modes of technical analytics to insurance-specific business practices.
