Applies advanced statistical and technical skills in the design of research studies. Collects, compiles, and analyzes statistical data. Performs complex statistical analyses for a broad spectrum of data and studies. Reviews programs written by other statisticians and verifies statistical output and results. Oversees programming and database handling to assure high quality data collection. Explains complex statistical concepts and produces written interim and final project reports. Writes and reviews statistical and outcome sections of study reports and submissions. Assesses feasibility of analysis requests and associated timelines. Evaluates research studies and recommends statistical procedures. Delegates and verifies work of junior statisticians. Helps new statisticians get familiar with procedures and programming environment. Tutors students in statistics as requested by department.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Compile, manipulate, and analyze data using descriptive and inferential statistics to address a broad spectrum of research and administrative questions
  • Use statistical software to create data analysis programs/syntax with appropriate documentation
  • Understand and interpret data analysis programs/syntax written by others involved in data analysis in the department
  • Explain complex statistical concepts in the form of presentations or written project reports/documentation
  • Write and/or review relevant portions of research study manuscripts and/or abstracts
  • Effectively visualize and organize complex datasets for the production of high-quality figures and tables for reports, manuscripts, and presentations
  • Consult with various researchers or administrators regarding data analytic needs, feasibility of proposed analyses, sequential procedures, and project timelines
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Salary Range: $67,070 - $108,990
Qualifications
Master’s degree in Math or a related field and six (6) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
