Description:

We are seeking a Sterilisation Technician to join Northern Beaches Hospital. This is a part time position - 0.4 FTE - available.
You will make an impact by undertaking general and specialised duties in disinfection and sterilisation of instruments from the Interventional Suite, other specialised clinics and wards across the hospital.

As the Sterilisation Services Instrument Technician your responsibilities will include:

  • Thermal disinfection, functionality checks/inspection, packaging and sterilisation of all instrumentation for the theatres and other clinical areas
  • Comply with AS 5369:2023 standards, Infection Control policy, GENCA guidelines and other statutory requirements
  • Operate, monitor, interpret and document all equipment reprocessing requirements
  • Report and document all quality activities
  • Ensure prioritisation of instrumentation and processes
  • Maintain the SSD area and equipment in accordance with Standards
  • Actively participate in the quality improvement initiatives and risk management activities
  • Assist with management of general stock.

Northern Beaches Hospital is a fully licensed private hospital, providing care to public and private patients from an outstanding facility with a large range of quality services provided by exceptional nurses, doctors and staff. The SSD contains state of the art equipment and provides a contemporary sterile processing service for surgical equipment. The SSD operational hours are from 6.30am to 10.30pm Monday to Fridays and 9.00 to 5.00 PM Week-ends and public holidays, however; the services may increase to 24/7 as demand increases.

You will bring to our high-performing team:

  • Experience in Sterilisation processing within a Healthcare environment
  • Sterilisation Service Certificate III or working towards completion of the course
  • Knowledge and understanding of AS 5369:2023
  • Knowledge and experience in the use of electronic tracking system
  • Track record of prioritising workload demands
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team as well as independently
  • Demonstrated knowledge of manual handling principles and techniques and ability to perform manual handling activities
  • Committed to the delivery of customer service in a health care setting
  • Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Flexibility in rostering.
