MercyAscot is New Zealand’s largest private surgical facility with 22 theatres across 3 sites. Our Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD) is responsible for the decontamination, assembly, sterilisation, and packaging of all equipment used within our operating suites. We’re the backbone of our theatres’ operation and with the ever-increasing number of daily operations, Sterilising Unit Technicians are in demand.
As a Sterilising Unit Technician at MercyAscot you will join a hard-working team of more than 30 professionals. This position will suit someone who enjoys a physical work environment and dealing with a large number of surgical instruments within a busy operating suite.
We have a vacancy for a Casual Technician with shifts offered on an as-required/as-available basis. Shifts are usually 8 hours duration between the hours of 0630-0000, across Monday to Friday and occasional weekends. And our CSSD will soon be relocating to our brand new purpose-built facility in Parnell.

• Clean and sterilise reusable medical devices and surgical instruments
• Assemble, check and package reusable medical devices and power tools
• Ensure continuous and sufficient supply of sterile items to the operating rooms
• Maintain infection control principles and standard precautions
• Assist with managing incoming/outgoing loan instruments and implants
