STEWARDING MANAGER

THE OPPORTUNITY

Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity is one of the premier culinary destinations in the Bow Valley. We are proud to boast three fantastic restaurants (Three Ravens Restaurant and Lounge, Maclab Bistro and Vistas Dining Room), where our menus have been inspired by fresh, local ingredients and are infused with creativity. We also hold numerous banquets and receptions throughout the year where our guests are able to experience creative, memorable and inspirational menus that leave a lasting impression.
The Kitchen team is looking for a Stewarding Manager to be responsible for supervising the multiple location operation of the Stewarding department and team. This includes the daily cleaning and up-keep of the equipment, dish rooms and garbage room. This position is also responsible for ensuring adequate inventory of dishware, kitchen related glassware and chafing dishes.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Completion of high school education or equivalent
  • 2-3 years’ stewarding managing experience in high volume hotels, resorts or restaurants is required
  • Strong administrative abilities and competence in Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated experience creating and managing a motivating work environment
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding role; significant standing and walking, lifting and carrying items up to 50 pounds, reaching above and below shoulder height, bending, kneeling, twisting

Reporting to the Executive Chef, below are some key accountabilities:

  • Ensure that all equipment and service ware are in good working order
  • Responsible for the proper and safe storage of all crockery and glassware
  • Create and manage the schedule for all of the Stewards while maintaining effective labour cost control
  • Responsible for the disposal of metal, glass, plastic and other recycled products
  • Maintain an inventory stock list of all food related kitchen ware as well as related cleaning products and chemicals used for the operation of the stewarding team
  • Responsible for the hiring and effective training of all stewarding staff
  • Provide direction and feedback to staff in the form of coaching and performance management
  • Ensure a positive and safe work environment for all team members aligned with Banff Centre’s policie
