Description:

We are seeking an experienced Surgical Nurse with a keen interest in the Stoma Care speciality to assist the Stoma Care Team in the management of patients living with a stoma.
As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will be responsible for providing clinical and psychological support to patients who have a stoma ensuring a quality service. You will provide specialist support and advice on aspects of stoma care including inpatient teaching on the wards alongside our Stoma Care HCA and support following discharge home via telephone and assisting in follow-up clinics.
The stoma care team are looking for an enthusiastic Band 5 Staff Nurse with surgical nursing experience to join their team for a year’s maternity cover. The post holder will have a keen interest in colorectal surgery and stoma care.

You will have the opportunity to learn and gain specialist knowledge within colorectal surgery and more specifically the care of patients living with a stoma. Working with an established team to two Stoma Care Specialist Nurses and a Stoma Care HCA, you will provide stoma care support and education to our patients on the wards following surgery ensuring timely preparation for discharge home. You will assist in the management of post-opertaive complications and be providing support for patients who have been discharged home via telephone and assisting the follow-up clinics with the team
