Description:
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Aquatics Coordinator assists in the general operations of the Aquatics Department under the direction of the Aquatics Director. The Aquatics Coordinator aids in providing excellent service to members of all ages in a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment that promotes positive program experiences based on the specifically designed curriculum for skill development in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least 18 years of age.
- Minimum of Associates degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- Fulfillment of specific hiring standards and completion of YMCA program-specific training. Required certifications provided by the YMCA upon hiring: RedCross Lifeguard certification, YMCA Swim Instructor Certification.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

Responsibilities:
- Assists with recruiting, hiring and training a diverse lifeguard and swim instructor staff across multiple dimensions of diversity. Aids in onboarding and developing them for success.
- Maintains staff schedules and coordinates volunteers. Ensures all programs/classes are adequately staffed - filling in as needed.
- Supports Aquatics Director in program development and oversight; compiling program statistics to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in the program; securing, scheduling, and maintaining the needed facilities; and maintaining program records or files.
- Models relationship-building skills in all interactions; develops and maintains collaborative relationships with staff, members, program participants, and community organizations to maximize program impact and drive overall outcomes; maintain regular, clear, and concise communication within the area of responsibility.
- Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules and policies for the pool and aquatics area ensuring the safety of members and program participants.
- Knows, understands, and executes on all expected curriculum for swim programs to meet the goals and development expectations of Y-USA.
- Assures compliance with federal, state and local regulations as they relate to program areas, including ADA accommodations where appropriate; ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed.
