Description:

An exciting opportunity is available for a Strategic Corporate Governance Lead to join us for a 4 month period.
The postholder will provide dedicated support for the development of the Group’s arrangements between North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust (NTHFT) and South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (STHFT) and other discrete tasks as required.
The post holder will support the Director of Strategy, Assurance & Compliance/Company Secretary, providing strategic advice, guidance and support on a range of programmes, developments and priorities, both internal and external, through research, reports, analysis and presentations.
The Strategic Corporate Governance Lead will support the successful delivery of the governance workstream, including reviewing the governance documents and culture and embedding high standards of accountability, integrity and probity throughout the Trust and ensuring regulatory compliance including:
Acting as the principal advisor to the Director of Strategy, Assurance & Compliance/Company Secretary, issues relating to Group Development arrangements.
Support the development and ongoing maintenance structures that support effective business conduct and public accountability which ensures that the Group and NTHFT and STHFT meet their statutory duties.
Acting as the key link providing expert professional advice to the Trust and Group on effective assurance and governance arrangements
Supporting the development of the Annual report for NTHFT and supporting the infrastructure that supports delivery in the future.
Leading on the formulation of strategy, policy that support the group development to ensure the delivery of its key objectives.
The post holder will be expected to use his/her initiative to identify opportunities to anticipate, support and streamline the work of the group, providing expertise to guide decision of the Group in relation to structure and governance.

STRATEGY:

Lead on the development and update of the annual report, ensuring it appropriately represents the views of the Board of Directors, Council of Governors and key stakeholders. Provide effective advice to support the development of services in line with the strategic direction of the
Support the clinical care groups in the design and implementation of their long-term clinical strategies and plans, ensuring alignment with the Corporate Strategy.
Support the corporate areas in the development of enabling strategies that will support the long term development of the group arrangements
Analyse guidance and formulate policies and procedures as required in response to policy directives from the NHS Executive, Department of Health, NHS Improvement and other central agencies that support the development of the group arrangements.
Operate in a highly political and sensitive environment e.g. sensitive and other meetings on complex and highly controversial issues.
Develop effective partnerships across group to ensure collaborative working to deliver the strategic direction, supporting engagement processes and presentations and communicating future proposals.
Corporate Governance
Act as an advisor to the Director of Strategy, Assurance & Compliance/Company Secretary on issues relating to corporate governance and the annual report.
Keep under review changes in governance practice and regulation that might affect the joint arrangements, ensure that the Director of Strategy, Assurance & Compliance/Company Secretary is fully briefed on these matters and the implications.
Work with the Director of Strategy, Assurance & Compliance/Company Secretary and Director of Finance to ensure the statutory returns of the annual accounts and annual report, are prepared and presented to the Regulator and laid before Parliament.
Ensure the provision of effective governance structures and robust systems which assure implementation of the groups governance objective
