    How this position will Make the Difference to City of Melbourne…
    The Strategy and Engagement Lead is responsible for leading a program of initiatives that champion and embed Melbourne’s design excellence narrative as part of the City of Melbourne’s award winning multidisciplinary design practice, City Design.
    The incumbent coordinates and manages an annual calendar of events as part of the Design Excellence Program and The Excellent City Series, in support of the program’s key leadership and advocacy pillars. Key events include Design Excellence Advocacy, Melbourne Design Week and Open House Melbourne etc.
    A key function of this role is supporting the Director City Design in their role as an advocate for excellent design in Melbourne; producing presentations awards submissions and talking points for local, national and international awards, conferences and events; and collaborating with key cross-organisational stakeholders to influence marketing and communication outcomes to provide reputation benefit. The incumbent also collaborates with internal work areas to ensure design excellence is integrated within the narrative of high profile and complex projects and programs, providing internal communications strategic advice and support.
    The position requires excellent writing skills for the production of awards submissions, Council’s internal and external websites and platforms, and promotional activities on social media. The incumbent needs to build and maintain strong and effective relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external, borne of trust and credibility to achieve position objectives.

  • Proven ability to initiate ideas and work autonomously maintaining an approachable manner and capable of employing tact and constructive ideas to achieve results.
  • Solid understand of relevant legislation, policies, practices and best practice approaches in procurement, project management and construction management within a government environment.
