About the OPPORTUNITY
We currently have an exciting opportunities for Structural Engineers within our Maritime Australia based in Adelaide, SA.
We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight.
The Structural Engineer is responsible for providing structural engineering services to the business. In this position you will apply your experience & knowledge to solve complex problems and develop structural designs and products for both intricate and large projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing structural designs and products through the use of Finite Element Analysis, hand calculations & other tools.
  • Preparing detailed Finite Element Models (FEM) of complex and large structures.
  • Undertaking site inspections and verifications, ensuring constructed products meet their design intent.
  • Providing structural engineering support to the project, including liaising with key stakeholders, customers and suppliers to deliver resolutions to structural engineering issues.
  • Working in conjunction with Designers to develop products that meet project requirements and comply with the applicable standards.

About YOU

  • Structural design experience using Finite Element Analysis and calculations for the detailed design and analysis of structures.
  • Working knowledge of analysis & modelling tools including FEA (Hyperworks preferred), Mathcad, Excel, Solidworks & Autocad
  • Mechanical/Aerospace/Naval Architecture/Civil degree qualified
  • Sound problem solving abilities and adaptability in a dynamic working environment.
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills and proficient in stakeholder engagement.
  • Must be eligible to apply for Australian Defence Security Clearance - NV1 clearance required
  • Understanding of Import/Export control processes including UK, EU and US regulations (ITAR) beneficial
