Description:
This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious graduate with the ability and confidence to manage a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) project with Ashton Fire Ltd.
The University of Manchester and Ashton Fire are looking to recruit a KTP Associate to undertake this 24 month project which has an overall aim of developing computational tools to specify structural fire resistance periods and structural fire engineering design methods to satisfy the specified fire resistance requirements for complex and high risk buildings.
The position will provide the successful candidate with a unique opportunity to work with leading structural fire engineering academics and fire engineering practitioners to integrate academic knowledge of structural fire engineering into fire engineering practice.
Candidates will require a relevant doctoral degree in structural fire engineering, preferably with experience in reliability based modelling of structural behaviour in fire. Alternatively, in lieu of a doctoral degree, candidates will possess extensive experience of practising fire engineering in general, and structural fire engineering in particular.
This post is funded through a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) award, a UK Government scheme intended to promote sustained and mutually beneficial relationships between universities and industry.
Based at Ashton Fire in Manchester, the successful candidate will work directly with supervisors from both the University and Ashton Fire and will use the facilities and resources of both organisations.
