EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Mechanical Engineering student
  • Knowledge in mechanical FEA.
  • Knowledge in domains such as non-linear analysis, modal analysis, metal fatigue, vibrations (sine, random, shocks), bolted joints…
  • Ability to investigate and solve technical problems.
  • Being proactive, ease to work and communicate in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Good understanding of how an electrical motor works (asset).
  • Fluent in French and English, written and spoken.

JOB PURPOSE

Dana is a global leader in the supply of highly engineered driveline, sealing, and thermal-management technologies that improve the efficiency and performance of vehicles with both conventional and alternative-energy powertrains. Serving three primary markets – passenger vehicle, commercial truck, and off-highway equipment – Dana provides the world’s original-equipment manufacturers and the aftermarket with local product and service support through a network of nearly 100 engineering, manufacturing, and distribution facilities.
Dana’s TM4 division, located at Boucherville, is specialized in the design and development of electric motors and inverters, meant to be used within commercial and light vehicles.

PURPOSE:

As an intern, finite elements analysis, you will be an active member of the mechanical analysis team. You role will be, but not limited to, make sure the products (motors and drives) will be compliant to the structural requirements (vibrations, thermal environment, performance…). You will be involved in all the phases of the product development and the continuous improvement activities. You will also be helping to support the test and manufacturing teams.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform Finite Element Analyses (stress, vibration, thermal…).
  • Work closely with the design teams to develop and optimize the products.
  • Support the tooling and validation teams on the product development activities.
  • Support the design teams during the continuous improvement activities.
  • Prepare test procedures to validate the design requirements.
  • All other related tasks.
