Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is hiring Structures Stress Analysis Engineers (Associate or Experienced) to work in the Commercial Airplanes Washington Design Center based in Everett, or Renton, WA.
The Structures Stress Analysis Engineer has a solid understanding of airplane structural analysis methods and tools for both metallic and/or composite structures. You will ensure the airplane has sufficient strength to endure all conditions encountered during its operational life. Also, you make sure the airplane structure meets all other design requirements including fail-safety, durability and damage tolerance where applicable.
Puget Sound Washington Structures Organization is looking for energetic engineers with a desire to make a positive impact in there career by working with a team doing some or all of the following activities. Perform structural analysis using well defined analysis tools to develop the structural environment, characteristics and performance. Support test execution and analyzes/reports test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including; Associate (Level 2) and Experienced (level 3) Structures Stress Analysis Engineers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • 2+ years of work experience in stress analysis.
  • Experience with Engineering classification such as Mechanical, Aerospace, Civil or Structural Engineering.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrate engineering knowledge as an engineer ideally working in the Structural and/or Aerospace industry.
  • ABET or equivalent is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
  • Experience with Fatigue or Durability Analysis.
  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis.

TYPICAL EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Associate (Level 2): Bachelor of Science degree and a minimum of 2 years’ experience in an engineering classification or a Master of Science degree with experience in an engineering classification from an accredited course of study, in Mechanical, Aerospace, Aeronautical, Civil, and select Structures engineering.
Experienced (Level 3): Bachelor of Science degree and typically 5 or more years’ experience in an engineering classification or a Master of Science degree with typically 3 or more years’ experience in an engineering classification or a Doctorate of Science degree with experience from an accredited course of study, in Mechanical, Aerospace, Aeronautical, Civil, and select Structures engineering.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops, integrates and documents structural requirements to establish the system design.
  • Coordinates with other engineering groups to establish the product’s environment.
  • Guides product design and verifies structural integrity by using analytical methods, finite element models/simulations and other analysis tools throughout the product lifecycle to develop the structural environment, characteristics and performance.
  • Develops test plans and configurations, supports test execution and analyzes/reports test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
  • Defines and documents certification and test results to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies that requirements are satisfied.
  • Supports in-service products by investigating failures and analyzing improvements.
  • Works under general direction.
